Interschool Sport

In Terms 2 and 4, students in Years 4 - 6 participate in the District Interschool Sport competitions.  The range and number of sports and teams is dependent on the coaching skills of teachers within the school, but generally include Rugby League, AFL, Touch Football, Soccer, Netball, Softball, Volleyball, Golf and Cricket.  Teachers may nominate with the Sports Committee to coach teams.  A School Sports Committee oversees the school sporting program, policies and provision.

Physical Activities Program

Yrs 4 - 6 students who do not participate in Interschool Sport are offered an alternative program of rotational activities to develop physical skills or leisure time interests.  Information about these programs is made available to parents and students prior to commencement. Teachers not taking Interschool sporting teams are allocated to these activities. Rosters and rolls are drawn up and students spend 1 or 1½ hours in each of two sessions on the day, rotating through all activities over the course of the season.

Children in Yrs 1 – 4 are able to participate in Learn to Swim classes in either Term 1 or Term 4 at the Albany Creek Leisure Centre. Swim shirts must be worn by all students during all water-based activities, with the exception of competitions and carnivals. Full details and regulations are outlined in information letters to parents well prior to the swimming session’s commencement. Teachers accompany students on buses and observe from the side.  Students not attending are supervised through collaborative arrangements between the class teacher and teachers remaining at school.  A swimming carnival is held in Term 4 for children in the Middle and Upper Primary classes.
