At Eatons Hill State School we support healthy eating.
Our tuckshop - Eatons Hill Snack Shack - provides a variety of reasonably priced, nutritious food and drinks, with many of them being prepared on site. The menu follows the guidelines from "Smart Choices – Healthy Food and Drink Supply Strategy for Queensland Schools”.
Smart Choices – Healthy Food and Drink Supply Strategy for Queensland Schools
In June 2005, the Queensland Government announced the implementation of the Smart Choices – Healthy Food and Drink Supply Strategy for Queensland Schools. Smart Choices is one initiative in a broad Queensland Government program to promote healthy weight and improve children and young people’s health through better nutrition. The 'Smart Choices ‐ Healthy Food and Drink Supply Strategy' for Queensland Schools is all about offering healthy food and drink choices to students.
What does this mean? Basically, it means that all food and drink items are categorised into 'Green', 'Amber' or 'Red' groups.
Green = Have plenty. These foods and drinks are encouraged and promoted in schools.
Amber = Select carefully. These foods and drinks should not dominate choices and should be avoided in large serves.
Red = Occasional. The availability of these foods and drinks should be limited to no more than two occasions per term.
Additional Snack Shack information such as the current menu can be found on our P&C website.
Flexischools online ordering
Our preferred method for ordering is via our online ordering system. It is easy and only takes a few minutes to register. Simply go to FlexiSchool and select ‘Register Now’. You will be sent an email with further instructions on how to complete the registration. Once registered, you can start placing your orders. If you have any questions, Flexischools provide a help desk on 1300 361 769, or you can contact them via their website.
Students without lunch
Students who have forgotten their lunch will be offered a basic sandwich - vegemite, cheese or Jam. Phone orders cannot be accepted by the tuckshop for forgotten lunches however we will endeavour to assist where possible.
Volunteers
Would you like to join us in the kitchen?
This involves a morning for only a few hours from after drop-off (approx. 8.30am) through until 11.45am and involves checking off students’ orders, preparing food, serving students during first break and associated clean up. All food preparation is under the guidance of the retail team and full training is given.
With your help we can increase the menu items made on site, keep costs down and have faster serving times for students. Your children will be very excited to see you in the Tuckshop. Feel free to come in for a cuppa and lend a hand. Or if you know someone in the community who is looking to be part of something... we would love to hear from them too!
If you are interested in volunteering, please contact our P&C Administrator through admin@eatonshillpandc.org for further information.
