Prep enrolment information

To determine when your child can commence school please use the prep ready reckoner calculator. Children need to be age 5 by 30 June in the year they start prep.

The collection of prep student enrolments at Eatons Hill State School commences on the Monday of the second week of school in the year preceding the enrolment taking effect. All enrolment forms are accepted by the office, however this does not guarantee a position for students whose principal place of residence is outside of the School Enrolment Management Plan (EMP) catchment area boundary.

Interviews will be conducted from September and continuing throughout term 4. The interview is an important part of our enrolment process and informs your child’s placement in the coming year.

Students residing within catchment

Students whose principal place of residence is within the school catchment boundary are considered 'Inside catchment' enrolments. Enrolment forms must be accompanied by appropriate “proof of residence” documentation as outlined in the EMP.

  • Parents or legal guardians who wish to enrol their child at the school will need to demonstrate that the student's principal place of residence is within the catchment area. Current proof of residency at the address indicated can be provided by way of one of each of the following:
  • One primary source - a current lease agreement, or rates notice, or unconditional sale agreement, and
  • One secondary source - a utility bill (e.g. electricity, gas), showing this same address and parent's/legal guardian's name

Each student’s original birth certificate must also be sighted and copied by the school administration

Other students deemed eligible

The following groups of students will be deemed as eligible for enrolment, even though they may reside outside the school's catchment area:

  • Children and young people who are subject to child protection orders that grant guardianship or custody to the Chief Executive Officer of the Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services (Child Safety Services)
  • Siblings of current students at the school
  • Students whose parent or legal guardian is employed by the school
  • Students who live outside the catchment area and are verified with a disability can enrol in the school to attend the specialised disability program if it is the closest program to their home and meets their individualised needs
  • Students who have been excluded from a school other than this school, dependent upon the conditions related to the exclusion, as determined by the Regional Director.

Out of catchment applications

'Outside catchment' applications are retained on a waiting list in the order in which they are received. Parents are notified during the year whether the application is accepted or not. This decision is made in line with the EMP process.
